Veteran actor and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg has tested positive for COVID-19. Joy Behar, co-host of the ABC talk show, revealed the diagnosis of 66-year-old Goldberg on Monday.
“Unfortunately, Whoopi tested positive during the break, but hopefully she will be back next week. Since she’s been vaxxed and challenged, her symptoms have been very, very mild, but we’re being super careful here at The View,” said Behar, 79.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, another co-host Sunny Hostin (53) also said she tested positive for Covid-19 before Christmas.
“I’m so thankful I got vaccinated and boosted because I was just having cold symptoms, but I wasn’t feeling great,” Hostin said.
Ana Navarro’s father tested positive for the virus over the holidays, along with Sara Haines’ husband in separate incidents. The hosts all appeared remotely on the show.
The host of the celebrity late night show Jimmy Fallon also revealed that he tested positive for Covid-19 over the holiday season. He shared a photo of himself masked in an isolation room on Instagram on Monday.
“Hi guys, on the first day of our holiday I tested positive for Covid. I was vaccinated and given a boost that I was lucky enough to have only mild symptoms,” wrote Fallon, who recovered in time for The Tonight Show’s return from hiatus.
The 47-year-old also thanked the medical professionals for their commitment to their work “to get everyone to vaxx”.
“Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing an excellent job,” he added.
