Rendagam marks Malayalam actor’s Tamil debut Kunchacko Boban. Judging by the teaser, Kunchacko appears to be playing the right-hand man of a supposedly feared mobster, nicknamed Dawood.
Dawood is a middle-aged man with a salt and pepper look. He has swag and innate coolness and is played by Aravind Swamy. Strangely enough, the film seems to have many similarities with Kannada hit Mufti. The film also revolved around the bromance between a middle-aged mobster and his loyal confidant.
It is also safe to assume that Aravind Swamy’s character suffers from amnesia. And Kunchacko’s character seems to have been tasked with making sure Dawood never regains his memory. Kunchacko ditched his signature simplicity for funky denim and slicked back hair.
Rendagam is also shot in Malayalam as Ottu. The film is directed by Theevandi fame Fellini TP. It is funded by actor Arya’s production banner, The Show People. The filmmakers have yet to decide on the film’s release date.
Kunchacko was last seen in comedy-drama Bheemante Vazhi, written and directed by Chemban Vinod Jose. He also has a large number of films in the pipeline. Meanwhile, Aravind Swamy was last seen in Thalaivii. He played the role of film icon MGR in the biopic, based on the late former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa.
