Amazon Prime Video released the trailer for the upcoming anthology on Tuesday Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa. It’s the second installment of the 2020 anthology series, which is about finding a silver lining in the grimiest moments.
Putham Pudhu Kaalai had an ensemble of five short films, which were accompanied by some of the leading names of Tamil cinema. The film largely played on the idea of how the lockdown forced everyone to return home, reconcile and bond with their relatives. It was all about people trying to understand the pandemic-induced lockdown and struggling to cope with the resulting challenges.
Judging by the trailer, Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa, which is also a five-part series, is about people trying to discover normality and live their lives on their own terms amid the pandemic. The anthology is set against the backdrop of the second wave of Covid 19 infections, which overburdened our healthcare system and brought the country to its knees.
It feels like the characters in the movies are lonely and they use everything at their disposal to reconnect with fellow humans. The film seems to have an innate tenderness and solid feel-good element to it.
The first film in the anthology is titled Mugakavasa Mutham and is directed by Balaji Mohan. The short story is about Gouri Kishan and TeeJay Arunasalam.
Mouname Paarvayaai is directed by Madhumita and features Nadiya Moidu and Joju George. “In these two years of lockdowns and isolation, we have had the opportunity to evaluate and re-evaluate our perspective on relationships. This film is my take on the relationship between a middle-aged couple, played by Nadiya Moidu and Joju George, who live on their own. The people behind the voice tend to fade into the background as the daily grind of life comes to the fore. What do we do when this certainty is confronted with an uncertain future?” says Madhumita, director of Mouname Paarvayaai.
The second film is titled Loners. Halitha Shameem is directing. Lijomol Jose, known for Jai Bhim, and Arjun Das star in Loners.
While Aishwarya Lekshmi and Nirmal Pillai starring Nizhal Tharum Idham is directed by Richard Anthony, The Mask is directed by Surya Krishna starring Sananth and Dhilip Subbarayan in the lead roles.
The new season of Putham Pudhu Kaalai titled Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa will stream on Amazon Prime Video from January 14.
