Just when all eyes were on Ajith Kumara‘s big ticket Pongal release Valimaic, producer Boney Kapoor announced on Thursday that the film has been postponed. The Tamil film is expected to premiere on January 13. But now it’s added to the growing list of movies that had to shift their release in the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases across the country.
Boney Kapoor took to his social media accounts and said in a statement: “The public and fans have always been the source of our bliss. Their unconditional support and love during the trying times have given us vital hope to face the hardships. and successfully complete our dream project. All we wanted during every moment was to see them cheerful and happy in the cinema halls. At the same time, the safety and well-being of our audience have always been at the forefront of all our decisions Given the sharp rise in Covid infections around the world and adhering to the regulations of the authorities, we have decided to postpone the release of our film ‘Valimai’ until the situation normalizes. Get vaccinated, wear a mask and stay safe. See you soon at the cinema!”

Valimai is Boney Kapoor’s second collaboration with Ajith Kumar and director H Vinoth, following Nerkonda Paarvai, the Tamil remake of the Bollywood film Pink. It was recently announced that Valimai will also be available in Hindi, making it Ajith’s first film to be released simultaneously in two languages.
Also starring Kartikeya Gummakonda in the lead role, Valimai’s trailer left fans impressed with its high-octane action sequences. According to the trailer, Ajith will return in the role of a righteous cop. But when the antagonist, played by Kartikeya, tarnishes his hard-earned reputation, all hell breaks loose. Touted as a tale of revenge and redemption, Valimai is written and directed by H Vinoth.
Previously, Valimai would collide with Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam in the Telugu states. But that film was also postponed on Wednesday.
