Een kleine blog over onze Highland-Hike 2007In 4 dagen van Tyndrum naar Fort William via de West Highland Way met als hoogtepunt de beklimming van de Ben Nevis hoogste punt van Groot-Brittanië als het weer het toelaat Vanmorgen een copieus ontbijt in de porcelijnkast van Eden Coille in Kinlochleven: compose frambozen ananas enz... Scones aardbeien warme heat en marmelade stoffen servietten en minstens 50 porcelijnen beeldjes om ons gezelschap te houden. Bij het buitenkomen een miljoen Midges die ons aanvielen.. Dan het laatste stuk van de West Highland Way alweer eerst een stevige klim de vallei uit dan een eindeloze weg langs een beek in een desolaat heidelandschap in de striemende regen... Omer en ik zitten zo stilaan door onze knien. Klos is ook bijna aan het einde van z'n bobijn. Fred klaagt over pijn aan de wreef maar het moraal zit goed! Wat tegen steekt is dat het echt wel een beetje te veel Highway was vandaag minstens 50 wandelaars op dezelfde despatch (die we natuurlijk allemaal voorbij gestoken hebben). Tegen 15u in Fort William na 22 natte kilometers we slapen in bunk beds onder de pub aan de voet van de Ben Nevis de een na de andere druipnatte wandelaar komt aangedropen...
