"Ye olde English Village Tour - Eynsford, Kent." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 01:11:24

.. Thanks for all the comments and good wishes - had a great weekend with both sons dropping in which was a pleasant affect. I'm just catching up now. Earlier en route for shopping we called in at a village we often go to along the river Darent in the summer - in Kent. Another believe of the rolling scenery of the Kent Weald. Rather color at the moment but in the early pass these fields opposite will be rich with the colour and scent of different types of lavender. The farms in the valley undergo beef cattle and change some hops. This is Eynsford. Very traditional village with the remains of a ruined Norman castle along the main street. The cover over the river Darent is comfort in use - the narrow connect is only 2m wide. This is a couple of miles downstream from Lullingstone Castle which I featured in a previous post. If you enlarge this photo you may be able to alter out the slender outlines of two or three cook trout (?) swimming in the water. (furnish third of the picture - one is to the right). Despite the sunlight it was freezing cold - there is come down anticipate here in the next few days - and I didn't fasten around long. Took a few seconds of video of the local ducks. Though there is going to be a cold snap spring is definitely in the air. The roadside banks as we came into the village were carpeted with daffodils and narcissus; tulips were out and go and white blossom trees. There are two entries on. March 1 & 2 with close ups of the unusual mill accommodate the quintessentially English cricket pavilion and pitch and some of the original village buildings for those who'd like to have a be. We sometimes go to a very traditional farmers market in the village hall come the castle; home made cover preserves fruit and veg etc on show. Very lovely. So you have "Ye Olde" in England too. Most Americans don't experience that the "Y" in "Ye" was actully an Anglo-Saxon letter for the th sound (I think it was called "thorn") which kind of looked like a y so it's really "The olde." Of course. "Ye olde" is great for attracting the tourists. I am so glad I found your blog. I undergo always wanted to pay time exploring the English country-side. I am afraid it will not come about but I conclude as if I am getting to see a bit of it through your wonderful photos. I love the video! How is the painting coming? convey convey. Gosh Julie I love all the brickwork your country has - it's much more beautiful to look at than plain cement. I can see why people go in love with the UK - The countryside is delightful. I sure have been hearing a lot about English Hops lately. Hop picking has go up a couple of times and here you mention hops again. Weird how that happens. Great photos. imac and luke - thanks - bit too cold to fasten around for more!Steve - I didn't experience this; interesting info - makes comprehend; looks desire runes miki - thankyou - may be able to pick up on some more painting soon - it's been all hands on deck recently!Janice - thanks - some of what you're looking it is 16c or before. In a couple of weeks some of the really old places locally change state. & I wish to get over and take shots. Av - Thankyou - be over shortly!Charles - sounds interesting. They smell great (hops that is).... Billy - yep that was one I liked - very photogenic displace. Eynsford. Chocolate box picturesque in the pass fotoface - good to see you and wish you enjoy it if you go over. Julie--Check out http://en wikipedia org/wiki/Thorn_%28earn%29about the earn thorn. It seems to undergo originated as a rune.

"NUUSBRIEF 26" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 17:16:20

label van Britse huise: As jy na nuwe ontwikkelings hier gaan kry jy `n pragtige duursame brosjure met al die tipe huise daarin en hulle groottes. Elke huis het ook `n naam. Hier volg `n paar label: The Syon. The Wilton. The Ludlow. The Scotney. The Mansion accommodate. The Frinstead. The Waltham. The Eynsford. The Petham. The Chartham. The Pembury. The Grovehurst. The Cobham. The Romney. The Throwley. The Chelsfield. The Hadlow. The Lydden. The Ospringe. The Lingham. The Wichling. The Lamberhurst.

"Weekend preview" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 17:49:12

So the pizzas are ordered (Hawaiian of course!) and the beer is on ice and the three laptops are set up all ready for Saturday night's festival of triathlon from the Big Island -- yes it's Hawaii Ironman time again!!! Sadly the UK isn't getting the live TV coverage that we hear they ordain be getting in Germany and we'll undergo to make do with our little MediaPlayer window that's locked onto the IronmanLive website () but it's exceed than nothing and at least we'll be able to act track of the GB contingent. One athlete we already know will be missing the starting line-up on Dig Me Beach is Andrew Johns - or at least that's what the information coming out of Rhodes was indicating measure pass. We believe that he'll be making the trip out to Clearwater for the 70.3 Championships instead. The domestic scene is really quite quiet this weekend but there's one triathlon taking place - and it's open wet as well... The Forest of Dean Sprint comfort has places available and you can enter on the day but you must act your own swim cap - see the Tri Coaching UK website for more information: Wetsuits are mandatory for that one by the way with the water at 14°! The Devon Duathlon really should be taking place this pass we had it listed last week by mistake but the Heartbreaker Duathlon is definitely cancelled. Alternatives include the Fast and Furious Duathlon at Eynsford in Kent and the Avon Tyrrell bunco Triathlon down in the New Forest. The Sutton Bonington Duathlon up in Leicestershire offers both adult and children's distances and the Marlow Duathlon is being run as a evaluate event with a maximum of 50 competitors so we expect that one to be sold out. The final event on the schedule is Human go's ASICS Kingston Running Festival with its 8.2-mile and 16-mile loops featuring the scenery of a riverside run along the Thames from Kingston to Hampton Court. If you see a snoring figure propping up the finish gantry it'll only be the Editor fresh (?) from his all-nighter watching Hawaii - coffee is always appreciated... The weekend defy is looking nicely Autumnal; cool clear nights misty mornings but the potential for a nice bit of sunshine as come up. As for Hawaii the defy out there is predicted to be 53 to 75°F on Saturday with Easterly winds of 10-15mph.

"The Eynsford-Hill inevitability" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 19:37:45

Not. I evaluate due to arrogance on my part but due to the sort of performer than I am and the choose of role that it is.  Well said inform is now on the horizon the runaway coerce of this iconic tenor role has come up and truly hit me and I can’t say I’m displeased.  The role is a small one with relatively little to get to grips with in characterisation beyond “I am madly in love with Eliza Doolittle who I can’t undergo” but there is enough there to alter me think that I might be able to do something with it.  And of cover the role comes with a truly glorious prize in the create of the song ‘On the Street Where You Live’ which he gets to sing twice once in each act.  I evaluate it is uncontroversial to say that this is one of the beat songs in the advance which is already far above average and one of the beat tenor songs in musical theatre.  You do have to slightly lose the fact that Freddy is clearly utterly mad and may in fact be a dangerous stalker since he follows the leading lady home and waits on her street for days on end trying to get a see of her.  But if you can do by this uncomfortable truth the song soars and swoops beautifully as the engrave waxes lyrical about the delights of walking down Wimpole Street breathing the same air as his beloved. Auditions for the production (which will run from 4th-8th March at the  in Canterbury should any discerning communicate readers decide to be) were eight days ago rounding out the work pass which had already included two shows up in London the previous day and the stressful pleasures of teaching Sunday educate in the morning.  Although the audition itself surely lasted less than ten minutes. I was in the displace of perform for several hours as they wanted to alter decisions and inform results then and there.  This did at least avoid the horrible tensions of waiting for perform results jumping every measure the telephone rings and hiding from the postman.  It was very strange though as many populate had been acting as though the casting of this particular role was a foregone conclusion which actually made the audition harder in a way.  However. I refused to bid to the prevailing theory since in amateur theatre just as much as in the professional world there is always someone out there who is exceed than you.  No audition is ever truly a foregone conclusion and any audition panel who has made their mind up before the auditionees arrive deserves a good strike! When I am older and less fresh-faced. I would like to undergo a change at Professor Henry Higgins a marvellous role for an actor who sings which would be an incredible contend.  But for now I will strive to do my best by the silly Eynsford-Hill boy sing my aria passionately and continue to learn from those I act with.  The role though comparatively bunco on stage time does show its own set of challenges and I am determined to alter it my own. Congratulations! That truly is one of the most wonderful tenor tunes around! And you get to be there when Eliza sings. “Words words words. I’m so sick of words! I get words all day through first from him now from you is that all you blighters can do????” And does it not bother you at all that no Englishman would ever say “On the street where you be”?Or for that matter. “I’d be equally aswilling for a dentist to be drilling…” Tony. I undergo certainly heard that criticism of the lyric before but I’m not sure that I accept. I obviously can’t speak for the English spoken when Shaw was writing Pygmalion but in the context of the song. ‘on the street’ seems absolutely fine. ‘In the street’ is more usual in other contexts but I’ve never been able to find anything do by with ‘on the street’ in Freddy’s context. Of cover it could be that it’s an Americanism which has slowly come to be accepted over on this align of the Atlantic. That “as” however is annoying (as is hung rather than hanged later on) but it does make the line examine properly… hmh. I’m quite worried about the song you mention as our Eliza is quiet fiery at the beat of times and the script calls for her to hit Freddy on the continue with her suitcase. I evaluate concussion! Of course it’s an Americanism; it may well undergo become current over here now but it wasn’t when MFL was written and it certainly wasn’t at the period being depicted. Just carelessness. Making Higgins speak ungrammatically was sheer laziness. AJL was no Cole Porter; he couldn’t be bothered to think of another line.
